Iroquois Steeplechase

The Iroquois Steeplechase is an American Grade I NSA sanctioned steeplechase race run each spring at Percy Warner Park in Nashville, Tennessee.
The race dates back to 1941, and has been held annually, except in 1945, due to World War II. The Iroquois itself is the culmination of a card of races which usually includes five-seven preliminary races, both flat races and steeplechases. The race is named for Iroquois,〔http://nashville.about.com/od/equestrianhorses/a/iroquois.htm An Inside Look at the Iroquois Steeplechase〕 the first American-bred Thoroughbred to win the prestigious British Epsom Derby.〔http://nashville.about.com/od/historyandsites/a/iroquoishistory.htm History of the Iroquois Steeplechase〕 The race is three miles long, over national fences and for four-year-olds and over.〔http://www.iroquoissteeplechase.org/LinkClick.aspx?fileticket=7lgvz36wD%2bg%3d&tabid=280 Race Conditions (PDF)〕
